Trauma-Informed Storytelling is a cornerstone of my approach to therapy as described in my book series - The Spiritual Warrior Guide to Healing. Having experienced the profound impact of traumas firsthand, I understand the power of sharing one's story in a safe and supportive environment. I guide you through the process of healing, helping you reframe your experiences and integrate your past in a way that fosters resilience and empowerment. This method allows you to reclaim your voice, power, joy, and grounding, finding strength in our stories.

In my work on Post-Traumatic Growth, I focus on guiding you through the transformative journey that can follow trauma and be created by conscious or unconscious programming. My journey through trauma has shown me that while the path can be challenging, it also offers opportunities for profound personal growth and renewal. I support you in identifying and nurturing your inner strengths, helping you to not only heal but thrive and find new meaning in your life.

As a survivor and advocate for Women Survivors of Violence, I am deeply committed to supporting women who have faced violence in various forms. My approach is grounded in empathy, compassion, understanding and empowerment, providing a safe space for healing and self-discovery. I offer tailored support to address the complex emotional and psychological impacts of violence, helping women to rebuild their sense of self and regain control over their lives.

Intimate Partner Violence is an area where I offer compassionate and informed support, drawing from my own experiences to understand the nuanced dynamics of abusive relationships. I provide a non-judgmental space for survivors to explore their experiences, develop strategies for safety and healing, and work towards reclaiming their autonomy and well-being.

Surviving the aftermath of suicide and coping with grief after a loved one's suicide is a deeply personal journey, and I approach this with sensitivity and understanding. Having navigated this painful experience myself, I offer support that acknowledges the profound sense of loss and the complex emotions that accompany it. My goal is to help you find a path through your grief, offering tools and compassion to honour your loved one's memory while fostering healing and hope.

For survivors of domestic violence, I provide dedicated support that addresses both immediate needs and long-term recovery from emotional and psychological trauma. My approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and empowerment, helping you to navigate the aftermath of domestic violence, rebuild your life, and cultivate a sense of safety and self-worth.

Through each of these areas, I strive to offer a therapeutic experience that is as compassionate and understanding as it is effective, helping you to find hope, healing, and a renewed sense of self.

About My Modalities

  • This approach integrates the connection between the body and mind, recognizing that emotional and psychological stress can manifest physically. We use body-awareness techniques to help you release anxiety, stress, depression, stored tension and trauma, promoting overall well-being and enhancing self-awareness. Unresolved feelings, events, experiences, and traumas are often stored in our bodies, manifesting as physical pain and discomfort even when there is no underlying physical illness. This phenomenon occurs because emotional and psychological stress can become trapped within the body, creating a buildup of tension in muscles, disrupting the flow of energy, and triggering chronic conditions such as headaches, back pain, disturbances in sleep, heart palpitations, forgetfulness or digestive issues, to name a few. The body holds onto these unprocessed feelings, thoughts and emotions, sometimes for years, as it tries to cope with the overwhelming impact of these events. This mind-body connection means that the stress, fear, or grief we don’t fully process can settle into our physical form, leading to discomfort, pain and suffering that traditional medical approaches may not address. Releasing these stored emotions through therapeutic practices can help alleviate physical symptoms and promote holistic well-being.

  • CBT is a practical and evidence-based therapy approach that focuses on identifying and reframing negative thought patterns and beliefs personally and professionally. We work collaboratively with you to develop new, healthier ways of thinking and behaving, empowering you to overcome anxiety, depression, lack of purpose, lack of joy and other emotional challenges. It is designed to help you understand and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours that contribute to your emotional distress. You may choose CBT when you are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, or other mental health challenges and are seeking practical, actionable strategies to improve your well-being. CBT focuses on the present moment, helping you identify negative or distorted thinking, challenge these thoughts, and replace them with more balanced and constructive beliefs. This process empowers you to take control of your mental health, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and build resilience against future stressors.   • Brainspotting is a powerful, focused approach to healing from trauma and emotional distress. By identifying specific eye positions that correlate with areas of the brain where trauma is stored, I guide clients through the process of deep emotional release, helping them access and resolve core issues that may not be easily reached through traditional talk therapy. This method allows you to process and release trauma in a safe and controlled manner, minimizing the risk of re-traumatization.

    One of the key benefits of Brainspotting is its ability to facilitate healing without overwhelming you. The approach is client-centred, meaning I work at your pace and focus on your individual needs and readiness. By honing in on the brain’s natural processing mechanisms, Brainspotting helps you address and integrate traumatic experiences without forcing you to relive or re-experience their trauma in a distressing way.

    Brainspotting and my guidance, also help you build resilience and coping skills as you work through your trauma. This ensures that you not only confront and process past experiences but also develop strategies for managing your emotional responses and improving your overall well-being. This careful, mindful approach helps create a therapeutic environment where you feel supported and empowered throughout your healing journey.

  • As a Meditation Teacher, I guide you in mindfulness, visualization and meditation practices tailored to your needs, helping you cultivate inner peace, reduce stress, and enhance your mental clarity. Each session encourages a deeper connection with oneself, fostering self-compassion and resilience. Meditation and visualization are powerful tools for anyone seeking to enhance their mental, emotional, and physical well-being. You may turn to these practices to manage stress, reduce anxiety, improve focus, and cultivate a deeper sense of inner peace. Meditation involves calming the mind and focusing on the present moment, which can help you become more aware of your thoughts and feelings, leading to greater emotional regulation and self-compassion.   • Chi Kung helps me manage my energy and stay grounded and present by fostering a deep sense of balance and harmony within myself. Regular practice allows me to cultivate a stable and resilient energy field, which enables me to approach my work with you from a place of centred calm. This enhanced personal equilibrium translates into a more effective therapeutic presence, as I can offer you a more consistent, balanced, and supportive environment.

    The practice also supports my emotional stability and mental clarity, which are crucial for providing high-quality care and guidance. By becoming more attuned to my energy flow, I can better identify and address any disruptions or imbalances in you, leading to more tailored and impactful interventions. Additionally, the breath control and mindful movements involved in Chi Kung enhance my ability to stay focused and attentive during sessions, further improving my therapeutic outcomes.

  • Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to access the subconscious mind, where deep-seated beliefs and patterns reside. I use this technique to help you overcome a range of issues, including phobias, and self-limiting beliefs, by facilitating positive change and personal empowerment.

    By tapping into the subconscious, I can help you identify and reframe negative thought patterns and beliefs that have been holding them back. This process allows you to address the root causes of your issues, often uncovering and resolving underlying conflicts or traumas that are not easily accessible through conventional methods. Hypnotherapy creates a safe and supportive space where you can explore and transform these deep-seated beliefs, fostering greater self-awareness and emotional resilience.

    Hypnotherapy also promotes relaxation and stress reduction, which can significantly enhance your overall well-being. By guiding you into a deeply relaxed state, I help you access your inner resources and strengths, empowering you to make lasting changes and develop healthier coping mechanisms. This approach not only addresses specific issues but also supports you in building a more positive and empowered mindset.

  • As a Reiki Master, I provide gentle, non-invasive energy healing sessions that promote relaxation, balance the body’s energy, and support emotional healing. Reiki complements my Body-Mind and CBT practice by offering an additional layer of support that enhances the overall healing process.

    Reiki helps to clear energy blockages and restore balance, which can amplify the effectiveness of Body-Mind and CBT therapies. By addressing the energetic aspects of a client’s well-being, Reiki facilitates a deeper sense of relaxation and openness, making it easier for clients to engage with and benefit from cognitive and behavioural techniques. This alignment between body and mind helps clients to integrate new insights and behavioural changes more effectively.

    Reiki sessions create a calming environment that encourages clients to explore and process their emotions more openly. The sense of peace and balance achieved through Reiki can reduce anxiety and stress, which supports the cognitive restructuring and behavioural changes targeted in CBT. This synergy between Reiki and other therapeutic approaches enhances clients' ability to achieve and maintain their goals, promoting holistic healing and long-term well-being.

About Private Online Therapy Sessions

Private therapy sessions are held via Zoom video conferencing on Mondays and Fridays. Payment must be made in advance and are non-refundable. Please provide a minimum of 24 hours notice to reschedule an appointment. Check with your extended health benefits provider to find out if you have Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) coverage.
